Claus Raasted, lead of the team behind the College of Wizardry, talks about the difference between a live-action roleplaying experience and LARP. In Canada and the U.S., people seem to think of LARP largely in terms of genres – boffer fantasy, horror, steampunk, modern. There’s some low key discussions of Nordic traditions and the styles and schools of (lower-case) larp, but it’s hardly the conversation to be had in Europe. Regardless of perspective, the argument Raasted makes in favour of differentiation here – in 6 minutes! – is important.
